Brief description of the exhibition spaces:

With it’s opening in 2007, ScalaMata became a dynamic and well established exhibition space . Hosting art and cultural events on an annual schedule. We are cooperating with Italian and international curators, various cultural institutions, art and architecture academies and art galleries.

ScalaMata hosted several collateral events of the Venice Biennale, and some well publicized international art exhibitions.

In 2017 we re-launched the ScalaMata exhibition space with La Storta, a more intimate 50 sqm exhibition space.

ScalaMata & La Storta are located in the heart of Venice in the prestigious Old Jewish Ghetto between Piazzale Roma and the Rialto bridge. It is easily accessible and at a convenient distance from the train station.

Situated in a 500 year old renaissance bottega La storta is one of the most authentic exhibition spaces in Venice. We offer a unique exhibition space with a large vitrine, and lodgeable studio – a show window to 30 million visitors all year round from the Carnival to the Biennale.

Due to ScalaMata’s & La Storta’s location, the works of art are exposed to a large international audience, many of which are art buyers and collectors. During the art and architecture biennale the area attracts many journalists, museum directors and curators.

ScalaMata does not accept unsolicited submissions or job applications.

We are currently collaborate with Venezia Contemporanea to host an artist in residence program at the La Storta liveable studio and exhibition space.
